Serena has been studying various styles of dance including ballet, pointe, contemporary, modern, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and acrobatics at Jersey City Dance Academy for 14 years. She was accepted into Morris County School of Technology’s Visual Performing Arts Dance program where she takes Improvisation, Choreography, Dance Science, Dance Repertory, Film Editing courses. Serena will be attending Montclair State University in the fall as a BFA Dance Major. She has studied under Ruth Clark, Lisa Peluso, Lynne Grossman, Alex Biegelson & 10 Hairy Legs, Michelle M. Robinson, Tammy Klinck, Donna Scro with Free Space Dance, Natasha Del’Elmo, Marina Del’Elmo, Jamie Hickey, Oliver Till, Michael Cerwinski, and Brian Binion. Serena has been accepted into Paper Mill Playhouse’s Senior Musical Theater Conservatory Company for the past three years. She has also accepted a scholarship for the Joffrey Summer Jazz and Contemporary Intensive in NYC. She has also appeared in various musicals such as West Side Story, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Footloose. Serena was the youth lead twice for Nimbus Dance Works’ The Jersey City Nutcracker, with dancers from The Martha Graham Dance Company. Serena received the 2017 New Jersey Governor’s Award for Artistic Excellence and Leadership in Dance. She is an active member of the National Honors Society for Dance Arts and the International Thespian Society , and was nominated for the National Dance Education Organization Artistic Merit, Leadership and Academic Achievement Award.
